Chinese Beef Patties Recipe (Xianbing)

Chinese beef patties also known as Xianbing or Jian Bing, is fried dough stuffed with meat and scallion, usually sold in the school gate shops for morning breakfast in the northern China. Traditional Chinese meat pies have a crispy crust and tasty filling. In fact, there are many kinds of meat pies popular all over the country. You can use pork, lamb, beef and so on. Today, I would like to share this snack with you.

Ingredients

  • 200g Ground beef
  • 2 Green shallots
  • 1 Egg
  • 300g Low gluten flour
  • 1 tbsp Black pepper
  • 2 tbsp Cooking oil 

Instructions

Pour the flour into a bowl and add water and mix

Use both hands to knead the dough until the surface is smooth, then wrap the bowl with a plastic film. Let it relax for 30 minutes

Pour the ground meat into a bowl, add the eggs, the minced shallots, black pepper and salt and mix everything

Take the dough a cut it into several small portions

Roll the small portion dough into a round sheed and place the meat in the middle

Wrap in to a bag

Fry until golden on both sides and the Xianbing is ready to be served
